Woodbury Athletic Association (WAA) accepts kids who live in the City of Woodbury OR attends a school in the city of Woodbury for its In-house and Traveling programs.
For Travel Basketball, we must follow MYAS rules. If a player lives in Woodbury but is not in the Woodbury High School Boundary (East Ridge School, Stillwater School, or Oakdale/Maplewood School), MYAS requires families to fill out a player transfer waiver (basketball only).
Please fill out this waiver and send it to the boys or girls basketball director prior to tryouts.
Message from Boys Varsity Head Coach Kent Getzlaff:
The off-season provides the greatest opportunity for individual improvement and our coaching staff can’t wait to get into the gym with all of our youth players this summer! Our summer program offerings prioritize our most important off season values:
Being a “Royal” means you are a great teammate that works hard and is willing to do whatever it takes to win games, while doing your best in school and representing your community in the best way possible. Our summer registrations are now officially open and we can’t wait to get started in June!

WAA Boys Traveling Basketball is dedicated to growing the player's enjoyment of basketball by developing their skills in practices and applying them at the appropriate level of competition based on their age and ability. Our primary goal is to run a competitive program where players improve, have fun, and return to play basketball again next season.
Please refer to the WAA Boys Traveling Basketball - Program Summary to learn more about our program, values and philosophy. WAA Boys Traveling Basketball adheres to the MYAS Guidelines for Team Formation. Teams are offered from 4th grade through 8th grade.
2024-2025 Season Tryout Dates will be posted in late Spring of 2024.
Those wishing to coach are asked to complete the Coaching Application and send it to the Boys Traveling Director by the end of August each year. Interviews will be arranged for eligible coaches and final coaching selections determined after tryouts.
Head coaches and all assistants must complete the applicable Trusted Coaches online training to be eligible to coach.
And most importantly...coaches need to be able to relate to the kids and make basketball fun!
Stay connected to the WHS Boys Basketball by checking their website for game schedules and updates. WAA players wearing their jersey will receive free attendance to JV and Varsity home games.
